Momma experienced terrible headaches at church today. Many thanks to the persistence of her church members who took her to the hospital and insisted on a CT scan. An aneurysm was identified and she was flown to Shreveport.

In the neuro icu at Oschner in Shreveport. Blood pressure is being kept down. She has a small brain bleed in the midbrain. They will assess her situation Monday with more thorough testing and decide her treatment then (either catheter through the leg or actual open surgery)

Angiogram today. The aneurysm could not be seen. Today was a rough day for her. The angiogram was very uncomfortable and she was aching to go home in the evening.

We thought we had a firm surgery scheduled today but the doctors are having trouble seeing the aneurysm in the images. Hopefully more imaging today. Momma is experiencing a lot of nausea due to bleeding in the brain. From her nurse’s report this morning, I’m taking this as a positive because the bleed is not the same as a stroke! However, she must stay in the ICU to be monitored for further bleeding/complications. She is grumpy, wants to go home, and has no end of critique for the staff! But they are gracious and attentive anyway. Pray for Momma AND the Oschner medical staff ❤️

Momma ate well at dinner. The hospital food seems pretty good! Abby fixed her hair and she’s had some good phone visits with friends. Grumpiness level has gone down some! It seems she is more at peace with being in the hospital. Current timeline is about a week. We are in waiting mode. Frustrating but necessary to make sure any surgery is both necessary and effective.

Abby and I both went back to work today. I visited with mom after work. Took her lots of snacks. She continues to go in and out of nausea but the nursing staff is very attentive. They are giving her meds for nausea and headaches.

The headaches are caused by the brain reabsorbing the blood from her midbrain bleed. Another round of imaging will happen next week. Date is unclear but I think they need to have the bleed cleared before they can see the ruptured aneurysm.

She ate a good dinner tonight and had a refreshing bed bath! The only thing she really missed today was having a good hot cup of coffee in the morning!
